On my father's side were Jesse Henry and Ludie Marshall. They, too, had nine children. Both sides of my family knew the demands of raising a large family, and both experienced the loss of a child. The Marshalls also lost a child.
Ivy Marshall
The family story tells of a little girl, Ivy Marshall, who was about two years old when she pulled a pan of boiling water from the stove onto herself. She did not survive. The loss itself was one the family never forgot.
